Colfax High School Reviews
Rating 3.77 out of 5 145 reviews
The school is very supportive of its sports programs and has a lot of events throughout the school year to try to boost morale. The bathrooms, however, are frequently out of commission and are often out of commission for long periods of time. There are times when there is only one usable men's bathroom on campus. With the music program at the school, although there is high quality content and teaching, it would be nice if there were more options of activities within the music department. There are a lot of events at the school where there are competitions between the grades, which is fun. Overall, the school is a pretty nice school to go to.
I loved my experiences at Colfax High School. I was deeply involved in many activities including basketball, track and field, chamber choir, theater, and the Vice President of my Senior class. Although it’s a small school, Colfax does an amazing job of building connections among people and getting everyone involved. There are some people who resist this but everyone tries their best make sure they know that they belong. Students, teachers, and even parents will come together in times of great loss and when there’s a big win. The sports teams have incredible work ethic and dedication to each other. The number of teams that went to States or broke a school record in 2023 was crazy. And the amount of support that was given to each of them by the community just showed how tightly knit the people in Colfax are.
I just graduated last month, and it was quite the experience. Covid hit the second half of my freshman year, and lasted all the way into junior year. This really affected how the school was run and the spirit that was diminished. All of the second term of my freshman year was gone, with small movements made to continue education. Sophomore year was atrocious, with an online education program starting the year and ending in hybrid learning system. 6 feet apart, masks, borders. It really destroyed the school activities and spirit. Division was created, and that lasted through my senior year. Although I didn’t really have the high school experience, I loved colfax and the people there. The support you can receive is amazing, and the campus is beautiful. That said administration definitely decreased over the years, and I don’t see it getting better anytime soon.
