Freshman: Kansas State University is an amazing place. The life here as a student is thrilling. Having a great place for forming, amazing beautiful buildings, a phenomenal staff. Football games here are so much fun, especially with our marching band, The Pride of Wildcat Land. They keep the school spirit alive, welcoming the football team back home after any wildcat victory out of state, regardless of the time. Pub crawls in local restaurants the day before a game, and the biggest pregame tradition, the Wabash cannonball. There are so many professors here, all of them rightfully qualified for their jobs. K-State cares about their students, they recognize that their students can struggle financially, which is why they offer so many resources for financial aid. K-State is also very welcoming and accepting of their students in any way. Alum: Pittsburg State is definitely not a bad school. In terms of the staff, the teachers I was fortunate to be under were all competent and well-respected in their fields (those who still worked in them). The opportunities after the college were also decent, nothing to complain about there. The campus life is actually alright for the extroverted type. The facilities within the school are excellent (at least pertaining to the KTC where I spent most of my time). The library and resources are a good place to spend time studying and the staff are usually students who like to help. The city itself is very small so it revolves around the school. Freshman: My experience at Fort Hays State University has been quite positive. I really appreciate the supportive staff and the variety of programs offered. The professors are knowledgeable and genuinely care about student success. The campus itself is beautiful and well-maintained, providing a great environment for studying and socializing. However, I would like to see more dining options and some better food in general. Because of the library being under renovations, the university has accommodated extended hours in several buildings for extra study time. Freshman: I have really enjoyed being at MidAmerica Nazarene University. Because it is a smaller school the professors know you personally and care about how you're doing. That is one of my favorite things about being here. I've had days that the stress affected me more, and one or all of my professors usually notice and make it a point to see if I'm doing okay. Additionally, MidAmerica Nazarene University is passionate about academics, and push their students to a higher-level of learning. There are plenty of amazing professors in the Education/Teaching program and in the English department chairs and the head are very kind and understanding people. One thing about campus that almost the entire WSU population would agree on is that parking is limited, and not entirely accessible. Sophomore: At the end of freshman year i realized that southwestern was such a blessing! Ive grown and matured so much that i didn't realize it till the end. I gained a great group of friends who always have my back. As well as an amazing basketball team that i wouldn’t change for anything, we went through so much adversity and hardships in the season but we still showed up to practice and games with a smile. I had to learn some very hard lessons about school and becoming an adult that without southwesterner and the people it brought me i would not have been able to overcome. Most are athletic, but there are choir, band, and theater scholarships. Our SAB program does a lot for students to help get them involved in fun activities throughout the campus. Our athletic programs have continuously gotten better since last year. Freshman: Tabor College offers the studies and academics similar to large universities but with the small town feel. Classes are small so you form relationships with your teachers and the other students. The staff is all extremely helpful and knowledgeable both while applying and once an accepted student. Sophomore: Haskell Indians University is a school solely for Native American. The point of the school is to help more Native Americans attend college and get a degree. The sense of community at Haskell is something else, I don’t think I’ll ever find another place like it. You’re surround by people who can understand you on a different level. The school itself could use some work. The freshman women’s dorms are not the best. The food is not any better, I know the school is taking steps towards bettering its self. Like hiring a new food program and trying to build new dorms. The problem is Haskell is a small school l. The people in charge are allowing many students to apply and get accepted. When the school does not have the capacity for all these students. They also don’t really offer any classes to do within the health field. Senior: I appreciate Benedictine is the academic rigour. Every class I have taken, even those that are not applicable to my majors has been worthwhile. BC's academia is demanding is the best way. Atchison is a great community. There're some interesting historical sites and a unique movie theatre where I like to attend the local film club events. Pace e Bene is a newer shop on commercial street that is really supportive of its student patronage. One area in which BC struggles is food. There were some issues in the past but the college has since partnered with a new distributor and is making improvements. I appreciate Benedictine's willingness to tackle problems in this area. BC needs improvement is the quality of the dorms. They're making progress here, working on construction for new halls and houses. However McDonald hall specifically is in bad shape and that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later. Overall, I have loved my time at BC and despite a few flaws, it is an amazing college.... Junior: I like the environment around my school. I am grateful to attend a college that offers a vibrant and diverse campus community. The extensive range of extracurricular activities and clubs have provided me with various opportunities to explore my interests and build lasting friendships. My school promotes a welcoming environment where students from different backgrounds can thrive and gain valuable intercultural experiences. Also the dedicated faculty members have played a significant role in my educational development. But however like in any institution there are areas within my college that could benefit from improvement. First thing is less homework. Sophomore: If you want to be a faceless number, attend a state university. If you want to be known and vital to your college, attend Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas. 500 students attend classes where professors are dedicated to teaching each student. The academics at Bethel are legit! No “easy A” courses. I’ve met so many people on a very diverse campus. You do not need to be of the Mennonite faith to attend! I’m not and I enjoy the atmosphere where Martin Luther King Jr. came to speak. I love that this was the first college in the nation to support Environmental Science as a degree. Freshman: Overall, I absolutely love being a student at Central Christian College of Kansas. From the moment I stepped on campus, it felt like home. The returning students and staff are very welcoming and understanding of new students. I love the fact that being at CCCK gives me the opportunity to grow my faith and become more connected with God. Other: JCCC has an excellent dual credit program. My professors were excellent and helped me succeed in my classes. Campus was clean and I never felt unsafe. There were a lot of student life events, but most of the students I talked to didn't attend any of them. The best part about JCCC is the career development center. Sophomore: I truly enjoyed the professors and the academic structure at Butler. There were multiple advisors to help, and plenty of opportunities to speak with a tutor and to schedule sessions for tutoring. There was a cafe at the Andover campus, and the coffee there was absolutely phenomenal. At the El dorado there was an adorable library and an absolutely amazing student run cafe. Honestly, it was an amazing experience for a community college, and something I loved and appreciated for my very first college experience.
